Lockerbie
Pan Am disaster
Lockerbie is a small town in Scotland, known almost entirely for the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103, which exploded over the town and killed 270 people.
The name has become shorthand for that disaster and for debates about terrorism, aviation security, and international justice: the Lockerbie bombing, the Lockerbie trial.
