Lesotho

Inside South Africa

Lesotho is a small, mountainous country in southern Africa, entirely surrounded by South Africa—one of only three countries in the world completely enclosed by another.

Formerly the British protectorate of Basutoland, it gained independence in 1966.

The country sits at high elevation, with its lowest point higher than any other nation's: Lesotho is sometimes called the Kingdom in the Sky.
