Kublai Khan

Kublai Khan was the Mongol emperor who founded China's Yuan dynasty in the 13th century, grandson of Genghis Khan.

He completed the Mongol conquest of China and ruled the largest contiguous land empire in history.

Marco Polo's accounts of his court introduced him to European imagination, and Coleridge's poem "Kubla Khan" cemented his name as a symbol of exotic splendor and power.
