Kalamata
Peloponnese port city
Kalamata is a city in southern Greece, but the word usually refers to the dark purple olives that come from the region.
Kalamata olives are almond-shaped with a rich, fruity flavor, typically cured in wine vinegar or olive oil: a Greek salad with feta and kalamatas.
They're among the most recognized olive varieties worldwide.
