James Buchanan

James Buchanan was the fifteenth president of the United States, serving from 1857 to 1861.

His presidency is remembered for failing to address the sectional crisis over slavery that led to the Civil War.

Historians consistently rank him among the worst American presidents.

He remains the only president from Pennsylvania and the only one who never married.
