disunion
Breaking of bonds
Disunion is the state of being divided or separated, especially when a formerly unified group splits apart.
It most commonly refers to political fragmentation, particularly the dissolution of the United States that Southern secession threatened before and during the Civil War.
More broadly, disunion describes any serious rupture in unity—within organizations, families, or movements.
The party's disunion over immigration policy cost them the election.
