Irish Mob

Hibernian crime syndicate

Irish Mob refers to organized crime networks historically associated with Irish-American communities, particularly active in cities like Boston, New York, and Chicago from the late 19th century through much of the 20th century.

Unlike the more hierarchical Italian-American Mafia, Irish mobs tended to operate in looser, neighborhood-based structures.

The Winter Hill Gang was Boston's most notorious Irish Mob.

The term appears frequently in crime dramas and historical accounts of American organized crime.
