Medellin Cartel
Escobar's criminal empire
The Medellín Cartel was a Colombian drug trafficking organization based in Medellín, dominant in the global cocaine trade during the 1980s and early 1990s.
Led by Pablo Escobar and other kingpins, it became notorious for extreme violence, including assassinations of judges, politicians, and journalists.
The cartel's power and brutality made it synonymous with the heights of narco-terrorism before its collapse following Escobar's death in 1993.
