mobocracy
Governance by masses
Mobocracy is rule by the mob—government or political control exercised by a disorderly crowd rather than through legitimate institutions.
The term is almost always disparaging, used to criticize democracy when it seems to have devolved into chaos or majority tyranny: The senator warned that unchecked populism would lead to mobocracy.
The word blends "mob" with the "-cracy" suffix meaning rule.
