ISBN
Unique edition code
ISBN stands for International Standard Book Number, a unique numeric identifier assigned to books and book-like publications.
The ten-digit format was replaced by thirteen digits in 2007.
Publishers, libraries, and booksellers use ISBNs to track inventory and distinguish between editions: The paperback and hardcover have different ISBNs.
