unique

One of one

Unique means one of a kind—the only one of its type.

A unique opportunity has no equivalent.

Strictly, unique is absolute: something either is or isn't unique, making very unique or somewhat unique illogical.

But casual usage freely applies intensifiers: That's the most unique restaurant I've ever seen.

Unique can also mean unusual or remarkable: She has a unique perspective on the issue.
