Henri Matisse

Henri Matisse was a French painter who led the Fauvist movement in the early twentieth century, known for bold colors and fluid forms.

His work evolved from wild brushwork to serene paper cutouts in his final years.

Along with Picasso, he defined modern art's break from representational painting: a Matisse hangs in the living room.
