Robert Rauschenberg

Robert Rauschenberg was an American artist whose work bridged Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art.

He is best known for his "Combines"—works incorporating found objects, photographs, and paint on canvas.

His 1953 *Erased de Kooning Drawing* and collaborations with Merce Cunningham and John Cage established him as a central figure in postwar avant-garde art.
