Guayaquil

Ecuador's largest city

Guayaquil is Ecuador's largest city and main port, located on the Pacific coast at the mouth of the Guayas River.

It serves as the country's commercial and industrial center: We flew into Guayaquil before heading to the Galápagos.

The city is often contrasted with Quito, the highland capital, in discussions of Ecuadorian regional identity.
