Grace Hopper

Grace Hopper was an American computer scientist and United States Navy rear admiral who pioneered computer programming in the mid-twentieth century.

She developed the first compiler, which translates human-readable code into machine language, and helped create COBOL, one of the earliest high-level programming languages.

Hopper is credited with popularizing the term "debugging" after a moth was found in a computer she was working on.

The phrase pulling a Grace Hopper sometimes refers to solving problems through unconventional thinking.
