UNIVAC

First commercial computer

UNIVAC was the first commercially produced electronic computer in the United States, introduced in 1951.

The name stands for Universal Automatic Computer.

It gained public fame by correctly predicting Eisenhower's 1952 presidential victory.

For a generation, UNIVAC was synonymous with computers themselves: The office just got a UNIVAC.
