co-official
Equally sanctioned status
Co-official describes a status shared equally with another, almost always referring to languages.
A co-official language has the same legal standing as one or more other languages in a region: Catalan is co-official with Spanish in Catalonia.
The term appears mainly in discussions of language policy and multilingual governance.
