stone circles
Prehistoric boulder arrangements
Stone circles are arrangements of large standing stones placed in a roughly circular pattern, typically ancient and found across Europe and other regions.
The most famous is Stonehenge.
Their original purposes—astronomical observation, ritual gathering, burial sites—remain partly mysterious, fueling speculation about prehistoric cultures and their beliefs.
