Football rushing position
A half-back is a player position in football codes.
In American football, the half-back lines up in the backfield and primarily carries the ball on running plays, though the term has largely given way to "running back." In soccer and rugby, half-backs occupy midfield positions, linking defense and attack: The half-back controlled the tempo of the match.
