Far West
Beyond the Rockies
The Far West is the westernmost region of the United States, typically referring to states along the Pacific Coast—California, Oregon, Washington—and sometimes extending to include Nevada, Arizona, and Alaska.
The term emerged during westward expansion when these territories represented the frontier's farthest edge: Settlers headed for the Far West seeking gold and opportunity.
Now largely historical or regional in flavor.
