European American
Caucasian in America
European American describes Americans of European ancestry, used as a demographic and ethnic category parallel to African American, Asian American, or Native American.
The term emphasizes ethnic heritage rather than race: European American cultural traditions, the European American population.
It appears mainly in academic, governmental, and formal contexts—in everyday speech, white American or simply white remains far more common.
