Dogma

Unquestioned official belief

Dogma is a set of beliefs or principles held to be unquestionably true, especially those proclaimed by a religious authority: church dogma, Catholic dogma.

The term often carries a negative connotation when applied outside religion, suggesting rigid thinking that resists evidence or debate: He rejected the economic dogma of his party.

Someone who clings to dogma is dogmatic.
