Deutschmark

Bonn's former bills

The Deutschmark was the currency of West Germany from 1948 and of unified Germany until 2002, when it was replaced by the euro.

Often shortened to D-mark or DM.

The Deutschmark became a symbol of German economic strength and postwar recovery: My grandmother still thinks in Deutschmarks.
