Reichsmark
Interwar German money
The Reichsmark was the currency of Germany from 1924 to 1948, spanning the Weimar Republic, Nazi era, and early postwar occupation.
It replaced the hyperinflation-destroyed Papiermark and was itself replaced by the Deutsche Mark after World War II.
The painting sold for 500 Reichsmarks in 1938.
