British pound
London's monetary unit
The British pound is the official currency of the United Kingdom, also called pound sterling or simply the pound.
Its symbol is £, and it divides into 100 pence.
One of the world's oldest currencies still in use, it remains a major reserve currency in global finance: The British pound fell sharply after the Brexit vote.
Informally called the quid.
