Davos
Alpine conference town
Davos is a Swiss Alpine resort town, but the name now primarily evokes the World Economic Forum's annual meeting held there each January.
Business leaders, politicians, and intellectuals gather to discuss global issues, making "Davos" shorthand for elite international discourse—often with connotations of detachment from ordinary concerns: the Davos crowd, Davos man.
