Alpine
Of lofty ranges
Alpine refers specifically to the Alps, the mountain range spanning central Europe: Alpine villages, Alpine cuisine.
It also describes a European ethnic or cultural type associated with that region.
In skiing, Alpine events involve downhill racing as opposed to cross-country. (Lowercase alpine describes any high mountain environment.)
