Dakotas
Pierre and Bismarck's
The Dakotas refers collectively to North Dakota and South Dakota, two adjacent states in the northern Great Plains of the United States.
They were a single territory until 1889, when both were admitted as separate states.
My grandparents farmed in the Dakotas.
The name comes from the Dakota people, a division of the Sioux nation indigenous to the region.
