Deadwood
Black Hills town
Deadwood is a city in South Dakota, famous as a Wild West mining town where Wild Bill Hickok was shot in 1876.
The name comes from the dead trees found in the gulch.
It gained renewed attention from the HBO television series set there. (Lowercase deadwood refers to dead branches or useless personnel.)
