Cranford
Gaskell's fictional town
Cranford is a town in northeastern New Jersey, part of the New York metropolitan area.
The name also refers to Elizabeth Gaskell's 1853 novel depicting life in a small English village dominated by genteel elderly women—a work known for its gentle humor and nostalgia.
The book captures the Cranford spirit of polite society and quiet drama.
