Coupling
Act of connecting
Coupling is the act of joining two things together, or the device that connects them.
Mechanical couplings link railway cars, pipes, or rotating shafts.
In engineering and software, coupling describes how tightly components depend on each other—loose coupling allows parts to change independently, while tight coupling creates rigid interdependence.
The word also means sexual intercourse, though this use sounds clinical or literary: The coupling was brief and passionless.
