Cornish pasty

Miner's portable lunch

A Cornish pasty is a filled pastry from Cornwall, England—a semicircular pocket of shortcrust dough crimped along one edge, traditionally stuffed with beef, potato, onion, and swede (rutabaga).

The thick crimped edge served as a handle for miners with dirty hands.

We grabbed Cornish pasties from the bakery for lunch.
