chip butty
British fry sandwich
A chip butty is a British sandwich of French fries (chips) between slices of buttered bread or in a bread roll.
It's working-class comfort food, simple and starchy: I grabbed a chip butty from the chippy on my way home.
Butty is Northern English dialect for a filled sandwich.
