Pasties has two unrelated meanings depending on pronunciation.
With a short "a" (as in "past"), pasties are savory filled pastries, especially the Cornish pasty—a folded crust containing meat and vegetables, traditionally a miner's lunch.
With a long "a" (as in "paste"), pasties are adhesive coverings for nipples, worn by strippers or in place of a bra: She wore nothing but pasties and a G-string.
