Hourglass coffee vessel
Chemex is a brand of hourglass-shaped glass coffee maker that uses thick paper filters to produce a clean, sediment-free brew.
Invented in 1941, its elegant design earned it a place in museum collections.
The name has become somewhat generic for this pour-over style: I made coffee in the Chemex this morning.
