Contra
Reagan-backed Nicaraguan rebel
Contra refers to members of the counterrevolutionary guerrilla forces who opposed Nicaragua's Sandinista government in the 1980s, backed covertly by the United States.
The Iran-Contra affair became a major political scandal.
Contra is also a classic run-and-gun video game series by Konami, famous for its punishing difficulty and the "Konami Code" that grants extra lives: We beat Contra without dying once. (Lowercase contra means against or opposite.)
