Caldera

SCO's corporate predecessor

A caldera is a large volcanic crater, typically formed when a volcano collapses inward after an eruption empties the magma chamber beneath it.

Calderas can span miles across and often fill with water to become lakes: Crater Lake in Oregon fills an ancient caldera.

The term comes from Spanish for cauldron, reflecting the bowl-like shape.
