Bolshevik Revolution
Lenin's Soviet takeover
The Bolshevik Revolution was the 1917 uprising in Russia that brought Vladimir Lenin's communist Bolshevik Party to power, overthrowing the provisional government that had replaced the czar earlier that year.
The revolution established the Soviet state and became the founding event of 20th-century communism.
Also called the October Revolution (it occurred in October by the old Russian calendar).
The Bolshevik Revolution transformed Russia from empire to socialist republic.
