minimum viable product
Simplest shippable version
A minimum viable product is the simplest version of a product that can be released to test whether customers want it.
The term comes from startup culture, where building too much before getting feedback wastes resources: We launched an MVP to see if anyone would actually pay for this.
Often abbreviated MVP.
