Andromache

Trojan prince's wife

Andromache is a figure from Greek mythology, the wife of Hector and mother of Astyanax.

In Homer's *Iliad*, she represents the tragic cost of war—a devoted wife who loses her husband and watches her son thrown from Troy's walls.

Her name has become literary shorthand for a faithful, grieving wife: She played Andromache to his dying warrior.
