Somme River city

Amiens is a city in northern France, capital of the Somme department in the Picardy region.

It is known for its Gothic cathedral—the largest in France—and its historic importance as a textile center.

The Treaty of Amiens (1802) briefly ended hostilities between France and Britain during the Napoleonic Wars.
