Americanization
Adopting US ways
Americanization is the process of becoming American in character, culture, or citizenship.
Immigrants may undergo Americanization by adopting English, cultural norms, and civic values.
The term also describes the spread of American influence abroad—when foreign businesses, media, or customs take on American qualities: Critics decried the Americanization of European television.
The word can be neutral or carry overtones of cultural imperialism, depending on the speaker's perspective.
