ATC
Runway traffic monitors
ATC stands for air traffic control—the system and personnel that monitor and direct aircraft movements on the ground and in the air.
Controllers at ATC facilities coordinate takeoffs, landings, and flight paths to prevent collisions and manage airspace: ATC cleared us for approach.
The term refers both to the service and to individual controllers: ATC said to hold at 10,000 feet.
