wordmarks

Brand name designs

A wordmark is a logo consisting entirely of text—the company or brand name rendered in a distinctive typeface without accompanying symbols or icons.

Google, Coca-Cola, and FedEx use wordmarks.

The term appears in branding and graphic design contexts: We're updating the wordmark but keeping the icon.

Compare with logomarks, which are purely graphic.
