wheel and axle
Circular torque multiplier
A wheel and axle is one of the six classical simple machines: a wheel attached to a smaller cylindrical shaft so that they rotate together.
Turning the wheel provides mechanical advantage—a small force at the rim produces a larger force at the axle, or vice versa.
Doorknobs, steering wheels, and screwdrivers all employ the wheel and axle principle.
