valgus

Limb bends outward

Valgus describes an abnormal outward angulation of a limb or joint, where the distal part angles away from the body's midline.

Most commonly seen in hallux valgus (bunion), where the big toe angles toward the other toes, or genu valgum (knock-knees), where the knees angle inward while the lower legs splay outward.

The opposite condition is varus.
