overpronation

Foot rolls inward

Overpronation is excessive inward rolling of the foot during walking or running.

Some pronation—the foot's natural inward tilt as it strikes the ground—is normal and absorbs shock.

But overpronation stresses the ankle, knee, and hip, potentially causing injury.

Runners often seek motion-control shoes to correct it: I overpronate, so I need stability shoes.
