upside

Potential for gain

Upside is used informally and in speech with the same meaning as against or on.

It is rarely used with this meaning except in the phrase upside the head.

Upside can also refer to the perceived advantage of something, typically in comparison to an implied disadvantage: We were late, but the upside was that we didn’t have to listen to a boring speech.
