perk

Fringe benefit, informally

Perk is a benefit or advantage that comes with a job or situation beyond the basic compensation: Free parking is one of the perks.

The word is a shortening of perquisite.

As a verb, to perk up is to become more lively or alert: She perked up when she heard her name.

Coffee perks when it brews in a percolator—the liquid rising and falling through the grounds.
