capsized
Boat went under
Capsized describes a boat or ship that has overturned in the water.
The term applies whether the vessel flips completely upside down or simply rolls onto its side: The capsized ferry trapped passengers below deck.
Figuratively, capsized can describe any sudden, disastrous upset: Their capsized plans left them scrambling.
